Year 10 girls use maths to determine if Jack & Rose could have survived the Titanic

We've all wondered about Rose and Jack surviving the Titanic. If Rose just made a little more room on that floating door would the outcome have been different.

It's only taken 20 years and 3-year 10 Westminster students to work it out.

Abigail Wicks, Christy Zhang and Julia Damato used mathematical formulas to discover how the lovers could have both lived.

It turns they could have lived. If they both used their life jackets under the door the beoucany would have helped them survive.

The group has won the Year 10 section of the National Maths Talent Quest, in recognition of their discovery.

Poor Jack.
