Art Exhibition – Earth & Community: A Living Canvas

Launceston Art Society warmly invites you to our Members’ Exhibition, Earth & Community: A Living Canvas, opening this Saturday 20 June 2026 at 11:00am in the newly constructed redeveloped Albert Hall Atrium.

Featuring works by local artists, the exhibition explores themes of environment, place, community and connection — reflecting on the living world around us and the communities we are part of.

Proudly supported by Quakers Australia – Jane Walker Bequest, the exhibition promotes the values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Care and Community, Equality and Earthcare. Artists have been invited to include one of these values in the title of their artwork, in whichever way best resonates with their work.

Visitors are also invited to take part by voting for the People’s Choice Prize, proudly supported by Choices Flooring. Come along, enjoy the exhibition, and help choose the community favourite.

There is also a special historical connection between the Society and the venue. Launceston Art Society began as the Launceston Drawing Club, holding its first exhibition in November 1891 — the same month Albert Hall opened. More than 130 years later, we’re delighted to continue that story in the renewed Albert Hall Atrium.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Mayor Matthew Garwood, City of Launceston, with prize presentations made by Maree-Rose Jones, representing Quakers Australia.
