The numbers are still being totted up, but already this year’s Festivale in Launceston is being touted as the best ever.

Now in its 35th year, the annual event that incorporates food, wine and entertainment drew a crowd of close to 28 thousand visitors across its three days at City Park, pumping millions of dollars into the economy of the state’s north.

Planning is already underway for next year, with January 31 and February 1 and 2 locked in.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer Michael Ferguson was glowing in his praise for the event:

“This has become one of the premiere events in the summer calendar here in Tasmania,” Mr Ferguson said.

“The economic impact is going to be in the millions of additional spending activity in the north,” he said.

“But those benefits will be felt throughout the regions.”

Festivale’s events committee will work with the Department of State Growth to finalise figures.
