Divers who found the body of missing New Norfolk man Dale Nicholson in the Derwent River on Monday, seven years after he disappeared, were actually searching for a missing North-West Coast man.
Nicola Sallese, of Sheffield, 69 at the time of his disappearence, has been missing since November 2008, and despite extensive searches on the North-West Coast and other parts of the state coming up empty, his family has never given up hope.
The silver Toyota Camry he owned hasn’t been seen since he disappeared.
His family has set up a Facebook page called Help Find Nicola Sallese, and have been crowd funding to finance an underwater search of Tasmanian rivers, lakes and dams, using state-of-the-art sonar technology.
The search has turned up a number of vehicles in the past 12 months, including cars at Longford and Huonville.
