The State Government has launched a new on-line service which will tell Tasmanians how long they may have to wait if they attend a hospital emergency department with a non-urgent injury.

Health Minister Guy Barnett says the dashboard will go live at health.tas.gov.au on February 6th.

Mr Barnett says the website will show current waiting times and exactly how busy the emergency deparment is, along with information on other treatment options, including Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport or calling the Healthdirect number to speak to a registered nurse 24/7.

However, Mr Barnett says urgent cases should still go to hospital or call for triple zero for an ambulance.
