Hobart’s Queens Walk social housing complex is set to grow to 150 units after council unanimously voted through 65 new multiple dwellings last night.
Two new towers will be constructed at Cornelian Bay.
Councillor Bill Harvey told this week’s planning committee meeting the once-notorious site has come a long way since its redevelopment in 2014.
“I had a chance to tour through the units before and after, and the redevelopment, I think, has been pretty good,” said Cr. Harvey.
“It’s really a well-located area…the fact is it has a lot of recreational space, and it would be great to think the residents would have an easy cycle ride through there to Kmart and wherever else they need to go.”
