As scrutiny is placed on the ageing nature of Hobart’s wharf infrastructure, the state government’s out ‘selling’ investment in the Self’s Point Fuel Transit Facility.
The upgrade at Self’s Point involved a multi million dollar installation of a fluorine free firefighting foam system.
TasPorts CEO Anthony Donald has attended a gathering on the site to celebrate the improvements.
“To be the first in the country to comply with the Australian Standard is a very proud moment for me and a fantastic effort by everyone involved.”
Deputy Premier Michael Ferguson paid tribute to the contractor.
“I’m particularly proud of Tasmanian firm Shaw Contracting as the principal contractor for the project, demonstrating our support of local procurement and Tasmanian businesses and jobs.”
