AFL boss Gill McLachlan has playfully told media in Adelaide he was about to fly to Hobart for an announcement when asked today (Friday) about a Tasmanian team in the competition.
He then quickly clarified that is not true.
It leaves the bid for the Tassie team still up in the air, with no fixed date for an announcement either way.
The decision was initially broadly anticipated for the end of August.
McLachlan did offer that the direction of the bid is going very well, and that other clubs are broadly supportive, however it isn’t universal.
