Time is running out to make a submission on the Federal Government’s proposed Bass Strait Wind Zone, which would be suitable for wind farms in a 10,000 square km zone from Burnie to Bridport.
The proposed zone will allow for wind farm development as close as 20km offshore from Devonport and 40km from Burnie and may be visible from Devonport, Ulverstone and Penguin.
Community drop-in information sessions have been held at Bridport, George Town, Launceston, Burnie, Devonport, and Flinders Island.
The public consultation period, which opened in late October, closes on January 31st.
On-line submissions can still be made on the Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water website at consult.dcceew.gov.au
