Public school lessons will finish early at 1.30pm on Friday afternoon next week (March 10th) in Tasmania when teachers once again take industrial action.
The union is demanding a better wages and conditions deal than what’s been offered, particularly around workloads described as causing an education crisis as teachers leave the system in despair.
David Genford from the Australian Education Union in Hobart claims they have no choice.
“We understand that it’s not ideal to have such short notice and it’s never our priority to have action, but this government needs to know that our members are serious they need people in the classroom and they need them now.”
