Upskilling nurses plan

More pieces of a plan to strengthen Tasmania’s regional health services are being laid out by Labor.

An extra $1 million has been pledged to the Rural Medical Workforce Centre at the Mersey Hospital for extending the skills of nurses.

“We have 18 regional hospitals and health facilities across Tasmania that a Labor government would look to increase services from so that Tasmanians who need access to health care in the middle of the night, who might have a child with a fever, who might have cut their hand and need stitches can go to their local regional hospital and been seen by a nurse practitioner.”

“Improving access to health care in regional and rural areas is a must and under Labor’s Right Priorities Plan, we would employ an additional 215 health workers to ensure people can receive the care they need close to home.”
