A hotly anticipated timber industry mill which will create hundreds of jobs in the state's north west will go ahead in Hampshire, south of Burnie..
Melbourne based Hermal Group made the announcement today which will see the creation of 220 new jobs on site and another 160 during construction.
James Lantry from Hermal Group told Tasmania Talks the indirect affect of the mill will be felt much more broadly.
"We've got a hectare's worth of shedding to build on site," he said.
"That is a massive construction process and we have made an undertaking that wherever we can, we will seek local input, local products, and local companies to do the work."
