Devonport and Launceston's combined strengths have been combined in the state government's attempt to convince Qantas to establish its pilot training academy in Tasmania.
Because of the immense economic spin-off it would produce, the airline's being pursued by dozens of regional locations.
Senator Steve Martin also sees Burnie being involved.
"We have the ability to have circuit training at Devonport as well as Burnie, so we can have, instead of five which is normal aircraft at a time we can spread it across the coast and have 10 and then Launceston's got controlled airspace as well, you know, you've got close proximity of UTAS in Launceston and in Burnie."
He believes a united approach has improved Tasmania's prospects.
"I think it's going to be a very strong bid, I think it's a very clever bid and it certainly will put Tasmania into a prime position to get into the short list of eight that Qantas is looking for."
