Treasurer Peter Gutwein says the state budget, is in the best shape it's ever been - as gives his budget speech in state parliament.
There have been no major surprises in Mr Gutwein's first budget since he was re-elected in March.
He has projected a surplus of $161 million dollars for the next financial year and a total of $620 million over the forwards estimates period.
The centrepiece of the budget is a $2.6 billion dollar infrastructure spend and promises to create more than 9,000 jobs before the next state election is due.
"The budget will deliver as it's centrepiece and infrastructure program of $2.6 billion," Mr Gutwein said.
"That infrastructure program will build Tasmania's future and will take us to the next level.
"Importantly it will drive more jobs and it will drive increased economic growth as well."
