Fire authorities are confirming heavy rain overnight has eased the risk to a number of Tasmanian communities.
The Riveaux Road, Great Pine Tier, Gell River and Brittons Swamp bushfires have all received rain, as well as extensive areas of the southwest.
The main fires have all been downgraded to low-level advice alerts, with the Huon Valley receiving more than 20 millimetres in the 24 hours to 9 am Thursday.
Crews will spend the day blacking out hot spots and extinguishing fire edges to strengthen containment lines, although low cloud could again hamper waterbombing.
The TFS and other agencies will reassess the fire risk today.
Those returning to their properties are warned to ensure water tanks aren't contaminated by ash, chemicals or dead animals.
The Huon Highway is now open to local traffic southbound from Huonville, and those who have a bona fide reason to be in the area.
