MagcourtHob2

People charged with drug trafficking offences after yesterday’s Tasmania Police raids have appeared in front of a Magistrate.

29-year-old Bridgewater man Ryan Edward Brown has pleaded not guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court to trafficking in methamphetamine and cannabis between September 1 last year and yesterday.

Magistrate Chris Webster refused bail and remanded him in custody to face the Supreme Court in September.

34-year-old Joe Robert Moekiola, also of Bridgewater, did not enter a plea to the same charge. He was also refused bail and remanded in custody until his next court appearance next month.

A third person, 21-year-old Rebecca Maree Jones, of Gagebrook, did not enter a plea to charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, cannabis and MDMA between March 27 and yesterday.

32-year-old David Hau Moekiola, of Claremont, has also been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and cannabis between September 1 last year and yesterday. He is yet to appear in court.

A fifth person who was charged yesterday with selling a controlled drug was bailed and is due to face court next month. Police say a sixth person is expected to be charged.

Targeting an alleged Greater Hobart syndicate, officers swooped on several properties yesterday resulting in drug and firearm seizures worth around $100,000.

Police also seized a vehicle possibly of interest in the Jarrod Leigh Turner murder case.
