Police have charged a third person with murder over the death of a Launceston man.

The 33-year-old man from Mowbray will face an out -of-hours court session at 8pm tonight in relation to the death of 19-year-old Billy Ray Waters

A 17-year-old male of no fixed address and a 17-year-old male from Riverside were also both charged with murder late yesterday.

It's believed a body found in bushland on Friday near Mayfield is that of the missing teenager.

Reports of screaming and gunshots in the area on August 4, the day Billy was last seen, forms a key part of the investigation.

“Police would like to thank the members of the public who came forward to Crime Stoppers with information which, coupled with some excellent police work, has led to these three arrests,” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Fox.

“A body located at Mayfield on Friday has not yet been formally identified but it is believed to be Billy," he said.

Billy was last seen alive on Sunday 4 August and his disappearance was reported to police on Sunday 11th August.
