Police are appealing for information regarding two deliberately lit bushfires which tore through a large part of the state's north east during the last week.
Nearly 1300 hectares of vegetation have so far been burnt by the blazes at Mathinna and Mangana.
Tasmania Fire Service's Regional Northern Chief Ian Bounds says the arsonist behaviour is something the state cannot afford, in an already busy bushfire season.
“Disappointingly, it looks like they're believed to have been ignited in a deliberate nature,” he said.
Mr Bounds urged members of the public with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
