Hobart's much-loved Festival of Voices is moving online for this year, as a result of coronavirus restrictions on gatherings.
Jackie Wilson's 1967 classic 'Higher and Higher' will be used for The Big Sing, normally conducted around a campfire in Salamanca.
Tasmanians are being encouraged to join in from their own campfires and loungerooms via the live stream on July 3 at 5:30pm.
"It doesn't matter what you sound like, you always feel good after you've belted out a tune. This is a simple song to sing, you can hum along to it - it really doesn't matter - we just want you to take part and feel good. It's about connection, it's about community and it's about remembering the power of song," Festival of Voices Marketing Manager Jen Murnaghan said.
She's acknowledged events at that time of year such as theirs, Dark Mofo (which has already been cancelled for 2020) and the Huon Mid-Winter Fest are all reliant on each other, and will have to restructure going forward.
"We know we have to be agile and as members of the arts we're pretty good at that. We're a creative bunch so we'll find a solution and make sure that it's going to be another wonderful event."
