Tasmanians are being reassured Antarctic expeditioners who've arrived in Hobart from France and Italy on Friday morning will be carefully managed.
118 researchers have already spent two weeks in isolation after testing negative in their home countries.
They now face another fortnight in quarantine at the Airport Travelodge and Rydges, North Hobart as the state maintains its "gateway to the Antarctic" status.
Police, ADF personnel and private security guards will be on the sites.
"Stringent arrival, quarantine and safety protocols have been put in place and all quarantine protocols will be strictly adhered to," said Deputy State Controller Scott Tilyard.
"The group is highly motivated to maintain quarantine and keep Antarctica COVID-19 free and absolute adherence to quarantine compliance is expected."
