A man's due to stand trial in coming months after denying responsibility for a suspicious death in Launceston.
The body of Jingai Zhang was discovered in a Wellington Street home on Boxing Day.
Emergency services and a witness tried in vain to resuscitate the 49-year-old, police later arresting German National Tobias Pick.
The 27-year-old, currently on remand at Risdon Prison, has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.
Pick is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Supreme Court on April 26 for a directions hearing.
A stealing charge linked to the alleged murder has been adjourned indefinitely.
