Burnie Senator Jacqui Lambie is slamming the Federal Government's response to an alleged rape at Parliament House in Canberra.
Brittany Higgins claims she was sexually assaulted by a fellow Liberal staffer two years ago in the office of the Defence Minister while intoxicated.
The man has since been sacked but Federal Police may still open a criminal investigation.
Ms Higgins has accused the Prime Minister of using "victim-blaming language" in his response to her claim, which Scott Morrison says he knew nothing about until Monday.
He's announced a number of inquiries into workplace culture in the corridors of power.
Senator Lambie says there are now serious questions about what the government knew and when.
"Why was it not investigated and why wasn't the AFP asked to look into it immediately, from our side, without waiting for the person alleging those incidents now?" the Senator said on Sky on Thursday morning.
"If they already knew about it back then - mate, there's been a crime committed, why wasn't action taken?"
