Paid parking on one of Hobart's busiest restaurant strips will come into force on May 17.
Tensions have been simmering between North Hobart business owners and the food delivery drivers they claim have been taking up scarce parking spots on Elizabeth Street.
As a compromise, council has voted to double the parking limit to half an hour between 9 am and 9 pm, but charge a dollar in peak times.
The cost to park will be $1 for the maximum 30 minutes and will be applied daily from 11 am - 2 pm and 5 pm - 8 pm.
Parking will be free of charge at other times within the signposted controls, but the half-hour time limit will remain between 9 am and 9 pm.
128 free spots will be available at the Condell Place and Lefroy Street carparks after 6 pm.
