Police in Launceston have made a breakthrough in their investigation into a shooting last week, arresting an Invermay man.
The 22-year-old has been charged with wounding and attempting to steal a vehicle, along with a number of firearm offences.
He was due to appear before the Launceston Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The 52-year-old victim was shot on April 22 in the early hours of the morning, after allegedly discovering two people trying to break into his car on Weaving Place at Invermay.
He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Launceston General Hospital, but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
It was the 12th gun related incident to occur in Launceston in less than two months.
The spate of recent gun crime has prompted police to establish a task force, to crack down on illegal firearms.
