Tasmania's future lockdown plans revealed

Premier Peter Gutwein has revealed what a circuit breaker lockdown would look like, if Tasmania were to need one.

The plan follows calls from industry bodies asking for an outline of what would happen if the Delta variant reached our shores.

Stay at home orders would be put into place, Tasmanians to stay at their primary residence.

Under the plan, anyone who isn't a resident and doesn't have a suitable place to live under the direction would need to leave the state.

Face mask mandates would be put into place, with non essential businesses to close.

Gatherings would be banned under the lockdown and remote learning would be put into place.

The Premier says we'd need to go hard and come out quickly to avoid situations like the one unfolding in Sydney.

Authorities have maintained that Tasmania is currently not in lockdow; and that these measures are on the back burner in case the Delta Variant pops up in our state.
