Some thieves have sunk to seriously low standards in North Hobart, taking an elderly woman's mobility scooter as she attended church on Wednesday night.

Disability pensioner Fiona Graham accidentally left the keys on the seat while at RiverCity Christian Church between 7 and 9pm.

A witness says a group took the scooter from where it was parked on Church property near the stairs on Lefroy Street.

Fiona has been left unable to do day-to-day activities.

"I can't get around without it. I can walk maybe 100 metres there and back but I'm pretty stuck," she said.

"I go to doctors appointments on that, get groceries, I go everywhere."

Police have been contacted.

In the meanwhile, Fiona is pleading with the culprits to give the vehicle back.

"I just want the return of it...get my life back."
