Covid hospitalisations increase

There are now 17 people in Tasmanian hospitals being treated who are covid positive.

The latest government health data has revealed 11 people statewide are being treated for their covid diagnosis - six people are being treated for unrelated reasons.

This comes as the state records 1,218 new covid cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on January 10.

397 of those were on PCR tests - out of 2,251 tests undertaken, the other 821 self reported on rapid antigen tests (RATs).

More than 15,000 RATs were handed out across the state on Sunday.

724 people were released from isolation in the 24 hour period.

Tasmania now has 7,917 active covid cases - and a double dose vaccination aate for those aged 12 and over of 93.02%
