A ute rollover near the Devonport airport has lifted Tasmania's road toll to 24 for this calendar year.
Five people were in the Nissan when it crashed on Pardoe Road around 1pm this afternoon (Monday).
Inspector John King shared the sad details.
"A 16 year old person has unfortunately died at the scene, very very sad, the 18 year old driver has been transferred to hospital in a critical condition."
Three others were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It's understood the ute left the roadway after failing to negotiate a sweeping right hand bend in the road, rolling several times before coming to rest on the roadside.
