A welcome drop in Tasmania's Coronavirus numbers today, with 609 new infections being recorded overnight.

The figures down from 850 new cases yesterday and 800 the day before.

29 Covid-positive people are in hospital, 11 of them being treated specifically for Covid-19 symptoms.

One person is being cared for in the ICU.

447 people are being monitored under the [email protected] program.

There are now 4,562 active Covid-19 cases statewide, with more than 171,000 Tasmanians recovering from the virus.

Vaccination rates are continuing to climb with over half of all kids aged 5-11 years old now fully vaccinated.

63.25% of children in the age group have received their first Covid jab.

Over 71% of Tasmanians 16 years and older have received their first booster.

That figure sits at more than 86% for locals over 50 years old.

Some of the last remaining Coronavirus restrictions will be released over coming weeks, Premier Jeremy Rockliff reminding us to keep up Covid-safe behaviours.

"Practice good hand hygiene, follow social distancing, test when you have symptoms and stay home when you are unwell."
