Over a thousand new Covid-19 cases for Tasmania

coronavirus update

Coronavirus case numbers have spiked overnight.

Public Health is reporting 1,001 new cases of Covid-19, compared to 495 yesterday.

Hospitalisations are steady with 13 Covid positive patients receiving treatment for symptoms.

428 people are being monitored under the [email protected] program, while two people are being cared for in the ICU.

Three people are receiving treatment at a Community Case Management Facility.

New infections are outpacing recoveries, there are now 4,767 active cases across the state.

Vaccination rates are continuing to climb with over half of all kids aged 5-11 years old now fully vaccinated.

63.25% of children in the age group have received their first Covid jab.

Over 71% of Tasmanians 16 years and older have received their first booster.

That figure sits at more than 86% for locals over 50 years old.

Some of the last remaining Coronavirus restrictions will be released over coming weeks, Premier Jeremy Rockliff reminding us to keep up Covid-safe behaviours.

"Practice good hand hygiene, follow social distancing, test when you have symptoms and stay home when you are unwell."
