Shan's Point of view (TV Shows)

So here is my opinion on a few shows I have watched over the last year.

I had spine issues a bit over a year ago that resulted in me having massive back surgery. Needless to say, I had a lot of time to do nothing but watch TV.
I got to watch some incredible series, and some that I thought were ok, but didn’t quite knock my socks off.
I’ll start with a few then add more every few weeks.
So I’ll start with Foxtel’s Games of Thrones and Westworld, then head over to Netflix for a few more.

Game of Thrones
If you haven’t watched any of this yet you have a lot of catching up to do. It’s got 7 Seasons and will approximately take you 2 days 15 hours and 30 minutes to completely watch it.
By far one of the best TV series I have ever seen. It makes you love and hate the characters in the series to the point of tears and you may even find yourself swearing or yelling at the TV screen. Game of thrones likes pushing the limits with its story and just when you think you know what’s about to happen it does a complete 360 on you.
I will say this… don’t judge it from the first (but at least give the second episode a look before you decide to continue or not)
Based in medieval times there’s love, violence, nudity and more nudity with some messed up love stories. Look I’m not going to lie, there are some lines crossed in this show for sure but if you can get through it has one of the most incredible storylines (based from the book George R. R. Martin). 10/10

Westworld
Now Westworld provides you with a storyline like no other (based in country western times with a modern twist). The number one theme park on your bucket list, a park based on your every desire. It’s seemingly a sequel to futureworld and based on the 1980’s short film beyond westworld (but if you haven’t seen these it doesn’t matter)
I don’t want to give too much away with this one, but it’s a really clever written show that has me dying for a second season. 8/10

Brooklyn 99
Comedy! And a love for Andy Sandburg helps. If you don’t know who he is you soon will. Brooklyn is about a police precinct but not really a cop show. Yes they are in a police station and yes they chase bad guys but each episode almost has its own joke. With each joke continuing to come together for a loveable and hilarious series. I’m about half way through season 4 at the moment (would have finished by now but I need wait to watch it which my husband).

Black Mirror
Oh black mirror… where do I begin, I don’t even know… this is definitely not a show for everyone. I honestly felt a little messed up with how much I enjoyed this show.
Each episode has a completely different storyline but all with a really strong message. My husband started watching it with me and hated it. He really thought it was messed up but I watched the rest of the series with his little brother (we both loved it!). An open mind is needed for sure.
But again like game of throne it crosses some lines.
I think the reason so people wouldn’t enjoy it is because it takes real concepts and makes them seem real.
So a great show for those with an open mind and who love a good shock factor.
Personally I can’t wait for more! 8/10

13 Reasons Why
(Spoiler alert to a point) This really was a hard season to watch! 13 reason why is based on 13 reasons a young girl committed suicide. Yeah it’s pretty sad, and probably not a good show to watch if you are having a difficult time at the moment.
This show will get you hooked but may also leave you in tears.
I understand the point of the show, it’s trying to shed light on what you say and do can really effect people. Based on the book by Jay Asher. 5 1/2 / 10.

Parental guidance is advised for the trailer.

Riverdale
Probably something a tad more girly.
Riverdale is based from the comics. I loved growing up reading Archie Comics.
Now it’s been a while since I have read these but from memory there is a lot of more scandal in the TV series then the comic (but I could be mistaken)
But in saying that you don’t have to know the comics to enjoy it, when I messaged my sister in law and told her it was based on the comics she had no idea what I was taking about.
I really enjoyed season 1, but haven’t seen season 2 as yet. 5 1/2/10

I hope you enjoy! Feel free to let me know your thoughts on these shows.
